DC Kangra urges public to ignore rumors, follow official guidelines

Dharamshala, May 9 (UNI) Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa has urged citizens to ignore rumors and seek clarity by contacting the toll-free number 1077 in case of any doubts or suspicions.
Addressing public concerns over the current situation, he emphasised the importance of adhering to official directives to prevent any untoward incidents.
DC Bairwa also appealed to social media users and content handlers not to share unverified or unauthenticated information, as it could lead to public confusion and panic.
“Citizens should trust only official platforms for accurate updates. Instructions and important information will be regularly posted on the official pages of the DC Kangra and SP Kangra,” he said.
He further assured the public that the government and district administration are fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in light of the prevailing circumstances. “There is no need for citizens to panic. A detailed civil defense plan has been prepared for Kangra district, which includes mobilising one percent of the population in each panchayat as trained volunteers,” he stated.
To ensure effective implementation of the civil defense plan, DC Bairwa said that nodal officers from various departments have been directed to act promptly and in coordination. Sirens will also be installed at the sub-divisional level to alert citizens in case of emergencies.
Various departments such as Health, Fire Brigade, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been assigned specific responsibilities under the civil defense strategy to enhance preparedness and safeguard public welfare.
