Jammu, May 4 (UNI) Former Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper Munir Ahmed on Sunday appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to provide him justice regarding his dismissal from the force.
Condemning the terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam in which 26 civilians including 25 tourists and one local were killed, he hailed the strong resolve and action of the Government of India under Modi's leadership against the perpetrators of the heinous act.
Addressing a press conference here, Munir Ahmed who was dismissed from service by the CRPF for marrying a Pakistani national namely Meenal Khan, said all the allegations spelt out in his dismissal letter are "misleading and have malafide".
He said they (his family) have been residents of Jammu and Kashmir since ages and have been living in Handwal village of Bhalwal tehsil in Jammu for last many generations.
“We did not leave Jammu even in 1947 while the family of Menal Khan (his wife and maternal cousin) migrated to Pakiastan, he said, adding, “I had a strong urge to serve my Nation and that is why I joined CRPF and have served in many difficult and remote areas since last 9 years".
Munir Ahmed further informed that his matrimonial alliance was decided during their early childhood by her mother and maternal uncle and in the year 2022, he informed the CRPF officials his intent of marrying a Pakistani National Menal Khan and sought permission for the same.
"Then again responding to a letter dated November 24, 2023, by CRPF raising some queries, all the required documents were submitted vide my letter dtd. October 18, 2023 seeking clearance/NOC for marriage on November 5, 2023.
"On November 17, 2023 a letter by the office of the IGP, Jammu Sector CRPF, Ban Talab Jammu was sent to Special DG, J&K Zone CRPF, Jammu regarding issuance of NOC for marrying a Pakistani girl," he said.
The letter read,” Kendriya Civil Sewa (Acharan) Niyam 21(3) mein diye gaye pravdhanon ke anusar (according to the provisions in the Central Civil Service rule (conduct) 21(3), “ a Government Servant who has married to marries a person other than of Indian nationality shall forthwith intimate the fact to the Govt of India.”.
Accordingly, he sought directions from the higher authorities.Munir Ahmed further informed that he received a similar reply dated April 30, 2024, the office of the Director General of Police, CRPF, New Delhi
There is no mention of any NOC in the said rule, he added.Munir Ahmed further informed that as per the Union Home Ministry's directive only two types of Visas are exempted from cancellation - Diplomatic Visa and long term Visa Holders (LTV).Munir\\\\s wife Menal khan had applied for LTV on March 4, and the mandatory period of 21 days, after which it is deemed to have been granted, has already passed.
The local Foreigners Registration Office, Jammu too, after due diligence has forwarded it to the MHA for grant of LTV, he said.Munir claimed the allegation that he has been providing shelter to a foreign national and compromising national security is far from truth.
CRPF officials, however, have said that Munir Ahmed has been dismissed because his actions are detrimental to national security.
"Munir Ahmed has been dismissed from service with immediate effect for concealing his marriage to a Pakistani national and knowingly harbouring her beyond the validity of her visa. His actions were found to be in violation of service conduct and detrimental to national security," CRPF spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General M Dhinakaran said. UNI VBH GNK SSP
