DMK stages massive protest against Centre over delay in publishing Keezhadi excavation report

Chennai, June 18 (UNI) The Student's Wing of the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu today staged a massive
protest condemning the BJP-led government at the Centre over the delay in publishing the findings of
Keezhadi archaeological excavations that established the antiquity of Tamils.
The agitation was held in Chennai and at Veeraganur in Madurai in which hundreds and thousands
of DMK cadres and functionaries, including a large number of women, carrying DMK flags, took part.
Members of the DMK's alliance parties also took part in the protest demonstration and came down
heavily on the Centre on the issue.
During the protest, they shouted slogans denouncing the Centre for refusing to accept and publish
the findings, demanding the author to rework the report to further validate it scientifically.
They also vowed to protect the Tamil language and the Tamil antiquity.
Yesterday, slamming the BJP-led government for the delay in publishing the Keezhadi report,
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin said what was needed was correction
of certain hearts, not the (Keezhadi) report.
He said some hearts (Centre) are refusing to accept the report that established the antiquity
of Tamils by validating it scientifically.
“How many, how many obstacles for the Tamil race? Yet, we are proving our antiquity through
by overcoming all of them for thousands and thousands of years with the help of science."
"Still, some minds refuse to accept it...it is not the statements that need to be corrected ; it is
some minds !", he wrote.
Amid the raging controversy following the Centre's refusal to accept the report and seeking to
rewrite it and further validate it scientifically, the Union Culture Ministry has ordered transfer of
senior archaeologist Amarnath Ramakrishna, who led the Keezhadi excacvations in Madurai
district and prepared the report establishing the antiquity of Tamils, from Delhi to Greater Noida.
Mr Amarnath, who had refused to rework the report as demanded by the ASI, was also removed
from the post of Director (Antiquity), Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
Members of the ruling DMK's allies including the CPI(M) and VCK strongly condemned the
Centre's move and demanded its revocation.
They also termed it as an vindictive act towards the Tamils.
A couple of days back Mr Stalin had a dig at the Union government for seeking more details
to further scientifically validate the Keezhadi excavations that have highlighted the antiquity
of Tamils and charged the BJP-RSS with promoting the mythical Saraswati civilisation.
Condemning the Centre for questioning the scientifically validated Keezhadi archaeological
findings, Mr Stalin said even when confronted with carbon-dated artefacts and Accelerator
Mass Spectrometry (AMS) reports from International Laboratories on the Keezhadi excavations,
they continue to demand “more proof.”
"And here is the "Proof". But on the contrary, despite strong opposition from
respected historians and archaeologists, the BJP continues to promote the
mythical Sarasvati Civilisation",he said.
"They do so without credible evidence, while dismissing the rigorously proven
antiquity of Tamil culture.", the Chief Minister said.
"When it comes to Keezhadi and the enduring truth of Tamil heritage, the BJP-RSS
ecosystem recoils — not because evidence is lacking, but because the truth does
not serve their script", he charged.
"We fought for centuries to unearth our history. They fight every day to erase it.
he world is watching. So is time", he added.
