Chandigarh, May 8 (UNI) The Counter Intelligence (CI) unit of Amritsar police busted an international drug smuggling module operated by a foreign-based smuggler and arrested two of his India-based operatives, said DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Thursday.
The two accused were identified as Gurpinder Singh and Sajan, both residents of Amritsar.
He said the police recovered 10 kg heroin worth Rs 70 crore in the international market and Rs 1 lakh drug money from them.
The DGP said the accused Jassa is wanted in several cases involving NDPS and the Arms Ac.
In another operation, the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in a joint operation with SAS Nagar Police apprehended a key associate of foreign-based gangster Rajesh Kumar alias Sonu Khatri.
DGP Yadav said the accused, Harjinder Singh, was wanted in a case involving an armed attack on a rival gang members in Kharar. Preliminary investigation revealed that Harjinder Singh was receiving instructions directly from his handler abroad and was actively planning a sensational crime in Punjab.
The police recovered 3 pistols with 14 live cartridges from Harjinder.
