Efforts to double farmers' income with the help of Japanese technology: Fadnavis

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) The Maharashtra government is trying to double the income of farmers with the help of Japanese technology, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday.
Fadnavis was speaking to reporters after a delegation from the Japanese M2 Labo Institute met him.
He said that the government was bringing Japanese technology to the agricultural sector to help one billion people based on Artificial Intelligence(AI) technology. The Maharashtra government will work with the Japanese M2 Labo organisation on soil revitalization, creating model farms, and greenhouse technology. Farmers will be empowered by reducing malpractices in the marketing chain. Indian farmers will be educated and provided with employment in Japan, said Fadnavis.
The state government is taking various decisions for the development of the agricultural sector. Agriculture is being enriched using modern technology. AI-based technology is being used for the development of agriculture. A policy based on AI as been announced and Chief Minister Fadnavis also appealed to all to work together using Japanese and Maharashtra technology.
M2 Labo Japan is Suzuki's agricultural arm and this is the first Suzuki organisation registered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
On the occasion, Yuriko Kato, CEO of M2 Labo, Sameer Khale, President of Mitra Sanghatana, Prasoon Agarwal, Chief Managing Director of M2 Labo India, Devang Oja, Masako Miyashita, Manager of M2 Labo Japan were present.
During the meeting, the organisation also expressed its desire to establish a Japanese Centre of Excellence in the agricultural sector based on the concept of “M2 Smart Village Labo” by working together with the organisation in the state.
The initiative aims to bring together Japanese and Indian companies in smart agriculture and promote AI for Sustainable Development (A4SD) through Society 5.0.
The organisation also expressed its desire to significantly increase the income of farmers and inspire the youth to choose agriculture as a career through the organization's "Junior Village" concept.
Also, discussions were held on providing opportunities to Indian agricultural workers in Japan, as they have official licences to support them in working for Japanese farms. UNI VKB SSP
