Electricity price to rise in Karnataka from April

Bengaluru, Mar 28 (UNI) The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has approved an increase in fixed charges for the next three years. The revised tariffs will be reflected in electricity bills from May onwards.
As per the new tariff structure, the per-unit charge will be ₹5.80 for the first two years and ₹5.75 in 2027-28.
While energy charges have been reduced by 10 paise per unit, fixed charges will see a phased increase—rising by ₹25 in 2025-26, ₹30 in 2026-27, and ₹40 in 2027-28. At present, the per-unit energy charge stands at ₹5.90, with fixed charges at ₹120.
