First-ever 'Dudhwa Festival' to be held in Nov, to showcase wildlife tourism in UP

Lucknow, May 6 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to organise Dudhwa Festival, UP's first residential cultural and wildlife event in order to boost tourism and showcase the state's cultural heritage to a global audience, official sources said here on Tuesday.
Sources said that set to take place at Dudhwa Tiger Reserve between November 14 to 16, the three-day celebration will highlight the state's rich biodiversity, vibrant traditions and Tharu culture, with performances by renowned artists.
Principal Secretary Tourism Mukesh Meshram said that in line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision, the three-day festival will establish UP as a multi-dimensional tourist destination. "Expected to draw over 2,000 visitors, the three-day event will spotlight cultural heritage, nature, Tharu tribal traditions, cuisine, handicrafts and wellness," he said.
He said, "The tourists will also have the opportunity to enjoy camping, with more than 200 tents set up in three categories. Besides, homestay facilities will be provided with local Tharu families, giving tourists an authentic rural experience."
Meshram said that wildlife safaris will also be available, with guided tours showcasing the biodiversity of Dudhwa. "The festival will feature performances from renowned national artists, covering classical, folk, global beats and will be divided into three sections, including the Main Stage, Techno Stage and Photography and Lifestyle Zone. These stages will not only attract music lovers and youth but also provide a memorable experience for music lovers, youth and nature enthusiasts," he said.
He said that the artists set to perform on the main stage include Shubha Mudgal, Kailash Kher, Rishabh Sharma, Don Bhatt, Brodha V, Ginni Sujan, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Paresh Pahuja and Ram Sampath.
The Principal Secretary said that the Yogi Government plans to strengthen the rural economy through strategic branding during the festival. "Branded merchandise such as mugs, t-shirts, jackets and helmets featuring wildlife illustrations and slogans will be launched. This initiative aims to support local handicrafts and artists by providing them with a platform and a source of income," he said.

Bhind, May 6 (UNI) More than a dozen passengers were injured when a passenger bus and a truck collided head-on in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, police said
Police sources said the accident occurred on National Highway 552 near Gorai under the Raun police station area. The fast-moving passenger bus and the truck collided, resulting in severe damage to the front portion of the bus. Over a dozen passengers were seriously injured.
