Heat wave conditions prevail in parts of North India, Vidarbha and Telangana

Pune, Apr 24 (UNI) Day temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places of Gujarat, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Telangana and Gangetic West Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
The temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra; at many places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Konkan and Goa, as also Marathwada.
The temperatures were also above normal at a few places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, north interior Karnataka, coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over Kerala and Mahe, the IMD bulletin said.
The temperatures were appreciably below normal (-5.0°C to - 3.1°C) at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya; below normal (-3.0°C to -1.6°C) at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and normal over the rest of the country.
On Wednesday, the highest maximum temperature of 45.6°C was reported at Brahmapuri (Vidarbha) in the country.
Hailstorm occurred at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Heat wave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana on Wednesday, said the bulletin.
Warm night conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of Telangana, Jharkhand and Odisha, while hot and humid weather prevailed in isolated pockets of Marathwada.
Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Arunachal Pradesh; at many places in Assam and Meghalaya; at a few places in Kerala; and at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat State, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, IMD said.
