Himachal: Nepali man, woman held with 8.184 kg opium in Solan

Solan, Apr 29 (UNI) The police arrested a man and a woman of Nepali origin and recovered 8.184 kg opium from their possession on the Pinjore-Shimla National Highway at Salogra under Sadar police station in this district.
SP Gaurav Singh said that a police team got a tip off that a man and a woman of Nepali origin are sitting on the back seat of a private bus going from Solan to Shimla, and both of them have brought a large quantity of narcotic substance opium from Nepal to sell, and both are planning to supply the said opium to the people in Shimla area.

He said that on the basis of the information, the team members organised a Nakabandi near Salogra, carried a search of the private bus in question. A man and a woman of Nepali origin sitting in the said bus, namely Shankar Bahadur Vika (38) of village Bans Kot, Nepal, and Shirjana Budha (44) village Triveni Nalgad, Nepal, were arrested and 8.184 kg opium was recovered from their possession.
SP Gaurav said that during investigation, it was found that the above accused persons had smuggled the opium from Nepal to Himachal with the intention of selling it to people in Shimla area.
Both the arrested accused have been produced before court and remanded to four days police custody.
