Hours after ceasefire, reports of unprovoked shelling by Pakistan on IB, LoC

Jammu, May 10 (UNI) Just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday, reports came in of unprovoked shelling by Pakistan along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) across the Jammu region.

Official sources here said that as per reports, Pakistan resorted to shelling in parts of Jammu region hours after both the neighbours agreed to a ceasefire.

“According to reports, Pakistan resorted to unprovoked shelling by firing artillery and small arms in R S Pura, Akhnoor, Pargwal (IB) and Naushera, Chhamb and Sunderbani areas (LoC),” they said.

They added that reports of small arms firing are also pouring in from the Samba sector.

The BSF has been given a free hand to respond effectively to the cross-border firing, sources added.

Meanwhile, one BSF Sub-Inspector was martyred in cross border firing along the International Border in R S Pura Sector of Jammu.

The BSF posted on X, “we salute the supreme sacrifice made by BSF #Braveheart Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz in service of the nation on May 10, 2025 during cross border firing along the International Boundary in R S Pura area, District Jammu while leading a BSF border out post, he gallantly led from the front.”

“DG BSF and all ranks offer their deepest condolences to his family. Wreath laying ceremony with full honours shall take place tomorrow (Sunday) at Frontier HQ Jammu, Paloura,” it further posted.

At least eight BSF personnel sustained injuries in the cross border firing in R S Pura sector and were hospitalised for treatment.
