HP Assembly adjourned sine die

Shimla, Mar 28 (UNI) The eighth session of the 14th Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly concluded successfully on March 28, with Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania announcing an impressive productivity rate of 110 percent.
The budget session, which began on March 10, lasted for 15 sittings over 73 hours, witnessing intense debates, key legislative decisions, and a remarkable level of engagement.
The House paid heartfelt tributes to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, ex-Minister and MP Kishan Kapoor, and former Minister Kewal Singh Pathania.
Legislators remained highly active, with the government responding to 845 starred and 289 unstarred questions. Crucial discussions took place under legislative Rules 61, 62, 101, and 130, covering a wide range of pressing state issues.
The Assembly saw the introduction and passage of 10 government bills, including two major laws—the Himachal Pradesh Organized Crime (Prevention and Control) Bill, 2025 and the Himachal Pradesh Narcotics and Controlled Substances (Prevention, De-addiction and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2025—aimed at strengthening law enforcement and tackling drug abuse.
The 2025-26 budget estimates were debated on March 24-25 and passed by guillotine on March 26.
A noteworthy highlight was the presence of 1,180 students who observed the Assembly proceedings, reflecting the growing interest of youth in governance.
Speaker Pathania credited the smooth session to the constructive participation of both the ruling party and opposition, appreciating Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, and other key leaders.
He concluded by extending warm wishes for Chaitra Navratri and the Hindu New Year, thanking the media for ensuring public awareness of the Assembly’s work.
