Hyderabad local body MLC polls witness 78.57 pc turnout; counting on April 25

Hyderabad, April 23 (UNI) Voting for the Hyderabad Local Body Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections began at 8am on Wednesday at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) headquarters and concluded peacefully.
According to election officials, out of a total of 112 eligible voters, 88 cast their votes, marking a 78.57 per cent voter turnout. The voters included 66 corporators and 22 ex-officio members.
Following the boycott by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), corporators and ex-officio members from the Congress, BJP, and AIMIM participated in the election process.
The counting of votes is scheduled to begin at on April 25.
In this election, the total electorate comprises 81 corporators and 31 ex-officio members. The contesting candidates are Dr. Gautam Rao from the BJP and Mirza Riaz ul Hassan from the AIMIM.
