J&K: Katra SDM prohibits sale, consumption of liquor, non-veg food

Jammu, Apr 8 (UNI) In a fresh order, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) on Tuesday issued prohibitory orders restricting the sale, possession, and consumption of liquor and non-vegetarian food in the territorial jurisdiction of certain areas and the Sub-Division Katra—the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the order issued by the SDM Katra, Piyush Dhotra, read that in suppression of all previous orders on the subject, the SDM by virtue of powers vested in him under section 163 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) do hereby prohibit sale, possession, consumption of liquor and non-vegetarian food such as eggs, chicken, meat, mutton, sea food, fish, prawns, lobster, etc in Katra and the following given areas in the territorial jurisdiction of Sub-Division.
The restrictions have been imposed on the track from Katra to Holy Cave and in villages within a distance of upto two-kilometre on both sides of the track; Arli, Hansali and Matyal Villages; within 200 meters on both sides of the Katra-Tikri Road, including villages Chamba, Serli and Bhagta; within 200 meters on both sides of the Katra-Jammu Road, including villages Kundrorian, Kotli Bajallian, Nomain and Maghal; within 200 meters on both sides of the Katra-Reasi Road from Katra to Nau Devian and Aghar Jitto and Nau Devian markets; within 200 meters on both sides of the Railway Station Katra-Sool Road and within 100 meters on both sides of Panthal-Domall Road.
