Jammu: Crime Branch books 7 for duping crore from people

Jammu, Apr 3 (UNI) The Jammu Crime Branch has booked seven people, including owner of a paramedical institute and a property dealer, for allegedly luring and duping numerous people of Jammu and Himachal Pradesh of Rs 1.32 crore on different pretexts.
Five separate cases of fraud have been also registered to thoroughly investigate huge fraud.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Crime) Jammu, Benam Tosh in an official communiqué said that owner of paramedical institution from Kunjwani namely Irshad Ahmed of Dangerpora Pulwama (Kashmir) has been booked on the complaint of one Amardeep Singh of Nanak Nagar, Jammu for duping Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of providing jobs to three candidates.
The complainant has alleged that accused Irshad Ahmed was running and dealing with placement agencies also for different offices.
He approached the complainant and introduced himself as head of placement agency in Srinagar.
The complainant, as per the handout, handed over the sum to the accused at Press Club Jammu and after a month, the accused handed over fake appointment orders of all three candidates mentioning job for Mandeep Singh as Messengers and for Sunil Vaid and Mohd Sadiq as Gardeners in Headquarter, Chief Engineer, Zone Udhampur.
The candidates as per appointment orders reported at head office where they were told that orders were fake, he said.
The SSP said that the fraud was conveyed to the accused and he was told to return Rs 15 lakh, but he flatly refused.
However, accused Piara Singh of Fathepur Salarian, Tehsil R S Pura, District Jammu, has also been booked on a written complaint of Karanjit Singh from Dablehar Tehsil R S Pura, District Jammu, for allegedly duping of Rs eight lakh on the pretext of providing work permit in Australia to the nephew of complainant.
In a separate case, accused persons, namely Gurjant Singh alias Bonny of Makhanpur, Simbal Camp, Jammu and Harsimran Singh of Sant Nagar, Gadigarh, Jammu, have been booked on a written complaint of Gagandeep Singh of Kunjwani, Jammu for allegedly duping of Rs 22.25 lakh on the pretext of providing tourist visa of Australia.
The accused persons were running an office in the name of ‘Study Abroad’ near National Hospital, Karan Bagh, Jammu.
Meanwhile, one property dealer, namely Rahul Dasgotra of village Kotli Mian Fateh, Jammu, has been booked on a written complaint of Dr Anjan Bhola of Channi Himmat, Jammu for allegedly duping Rs. 16.50 lakh from complainant by falsely assuring him that he would buy land near Bishnah adjoining area and need financial assistance to purchase and he would return the amount with interest.
Later on, the complainant got information that Rahul Dasgotra had not purchased any land and he had also duped other people by making false promises on the same pretext.
Similarly, two Khairwood dealers, namely Parveen Kumar of Thandi Choi, Tehsil Kahra Bali, District Jammu and Jitender Kumar Sharma of Barnara, Tehsil Sunderbani, District Rajouri, have been booked on a written complaint of Dhian Chand of District Hamirpur, HP through Akhil Sharma of Roop Nagar, Jammu for allegedly duping Rs 70.20 lakh on the pretext of providing Khairwood to the complainant.
SSP Benam Tosh confirmed that five separate cases have been registered and investigations are underway.
