Jammu Police cracks broad daylight jewelry shop robbery case, nabs three persons, including advocate

Jammu, Apr 3 (UNI) Jammu Police has successfully solved the sensational February 1 jewelry shop robbery case at Greater Kailash and arrested three persons, including an advocate.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Joginder Singh on Thursday addressing a press conference flanked by senior officer, said that the infamous daylight heist at Anand Jewelers, Greater Kailash, Fountain Chowk, Jammu, had sparked concerns among the ‘Sawarnkar’ community and sent shockwaves throughout the City but the focused, professional and dedicated efforts of the police led to the identification and arrest of the criminals behind this highly planned crime.
“Taking cognizance of the gravity of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of the SP City South and headed by SDPO City South, Jammu, was constituted,” said the SSP.
He stated that police successfully arrested culprits involved in the crime, so far surfaced in the investigation.
One of the main conspirators identified as Rahul Sharma (Advocate), resident of Lower Kanal, Bishnah, is arrested along with two others who executed the plan and committed the robbery .
The preliminary questioning revealed a shocking and disgraceful inspiration behind the robbery from a similar kind of gold robbery at Delhi, Samaypur Badli in the year 2023.
The SSP, however, has urged the public to remain vigilant and report such activities to the nearest Police Station or dial 100 and install CCTV cameras around their establishments.
“Keep the valuables locked and ensure that minimal is kept for display. The swift and precise action in this case sends a strong message that crime will not be tolerated and offenders will be brought to justice, no matter how elaborate their planning may be,” he said.
Notably, on February 1, during noon time, two armed robbers stormed into Anand Jewelers, with deadly sharp weapons to intimidate the lone woman owner present inside the shop.
By placing a sharp-edged weapon on her throat, they looted valuable gold, cash, and a mobile phone, following which a case was registered and an investigation was taken up.
Police have recovered seven pairs of earrings (Jhumka) and one single piece, nine gold chains, one gold chain set, 30 pieces of gold bangles, two pieces of ‘Rani Haar’, seven pieces of small gold set, 11 gold rings, seven lockets without chain, 49 earrings, 16 tops, six stone earrings and one sterling silver watch.
“The looted ornaments were worth more than Rs one crore,” said the SSP.
He added that more arrests are likely on the cards as the matter is under investigation.
