Kishan Reddy condemns DMK’s divisive politics

Kishan Reddy condemns DMK’s divisive politics

Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy has criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and the DMK party for engaging in divisive politics over the past two months.

He accused them of falsely alleging that the central government is conspiring against South India.

Addressing the media at the state party office in Nampally on Sunday, Reddy condemned the DMK’s announcement of a meeting with prominent South Indian figures as politically motivated and driven by malice.

Reddy criticised the DMK and Congress for their stance on the National Education Policy and parliamentary constituency delimitation, calling it a reflection of "political bankruptcy."

"Elections are approaching in Tamil Nadu within six months, and the DMK is set to lose due to public dissatisfaction with corruption, exploitation, and the authoritarian tendencies of the Stalin family. They are staging political dramas to divert attention from these issues," Reddy claimed.

He pointed to rising corruption in Tamil Nadu, high state taxes, increased electricity tariffs, and the non-implementation of promised welfare schemes as reasons for growing public discontent.

Reddy accused the DMK of attempting to provoke the public by falsely portraying Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government, the Hindi language, and parliamentary constituencies as oppressive.

He further alleged that several DMK leaders were implicated in a major liquor scam, and the party was stirring controversy to distract people from this corruption.

Reddy emphasized that the National Education Policy (NEP) was not a recent development. "The NEP was introduced by the Congress-led government in 1986 when the DMK was allied with them, yet it faced no opposition then," he said. He added that the Modi government’s version of the NEP promotes regional languages in non-Hindi states.

"The three-language formula was introduced during the British era and later strengthened during the Congress regime by the Kothari Committee. Modi did not invent this policy," Reddy stated. He asserted that the Prime Minister had never forced Hindi on any state.

Reddy alleged that the DMK's opposition to Hindi was a calculated move for political gain. "Whenever elections approach, the Congress and DMK spread false propaganda," he said, adding that Stalin’s recent outcry is linked to the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections.

Criticising the DMK government for altering the rupee design logo, originally designed by DMK MLA's son Uday Kumar, Reddy accused the party of petty politics. He noted that the rupee symbol was introduced in 2010 under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s government and questioned if Rahul Gandhi believed Tamil Nadu would reject currency designed by the Reserve Bank.

"People are free to speak and study the language they choose," Reddy emphasized. He reiterated that the 1968 education policy also included a three-language formula, and the NEP 2020 does not mandate any specific language.

Reddy condemned the Congress and DMK for provoking people for electoral gains. He claimed that these parties raise divisive issues whenever they face political difficulties.

Reddy reminded the public that it was Congress leader Indira Gandhi who brought education under the Concurrent List during the 42nd Constitutional Amendment.

He questioned whether the Congress party seeks to eradicate Hindi entirely and highlighted the Modi government’s steps to promote the Tamil language and culture.

"The Narendra Modi government declared the birth anniversary of Tamil poet Subramanya Bharathi as National Language Day. The historic 'Singol', a revered Tamil symbol, was installed with dignity in the new Parliament building, showcasing Tamil pride," Reddy added.
