The proposal ensured that only electric bikes will be allowed to take on pillion passengers, as a part of the state government's initiative to promote electric vehicles.
Women's security remains a focus, Sarnaik said and added that financial assistance of Rs 10,000 would be given to the children of auto and taxi drivers as a means of purchasing a bike taxi.
According to reports, fares for bike taxis in Mumbai will be around 60 percent of autorickshaw or taxi fares and these services will be accessible exclusively via ride-hailing apps.
