Meeting to take place in Delhi on Tuesday regarding tunnel in Octrum Ghat near Kannad: Dr Karad

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) A joint meeting of Railways and National Highways Authority (NHA) officials regarding tunnel in Octrum Ghat will be held in New Delhi on April eight in the presence of Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnav and NHA Minister Nitin Gadkari, informed former minister of state and Rajya Sabha member Dr Bhagwat Karad on Monday.
In an official media statement issued here on Monday, Dr Karad stated that he has been continuously following up to build a tunnel in Octrum Ghat and has demanded a meeting of the Ministry of Railways and Surface Transport in this regard.
The tunnel in the Octrum Ghat will be important for connecting South and North India. Also, since Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is the leading industrial centre of the country, along with the famous caves at Ajanta, tourists will also benefit, which will give a boost to the development of Marathwada.
The Railway Department has decided to conduct a survey of the new railway line of Beed, Chhatrapati
Sambhajinagar, Kannad and Chalisgaon.
Therefore, a single tunnel should be constructed for the railway line and the national highway.
An important decision is likely to be taken in this meeting, Dr Karad added.
