Miss World 2025 pageant from May 7 in Telangana to attract global investments: Minister

Hyderabad, Mar 20 (UNI) Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Thursday said that the 72nd Miss World 2025 pageant to be held in the state from May 7 to 31 will attract global investments, increase state revenue and provide employment to local youth.
Stating that the Miss World pageant is a historic event, the Minister at a press conference in Haritha Plaza here said that Telangana is a state rich in culture and traditions.

He emphasised that the Miss World 2025 pageant celebrates the beauty of women's souls and their crucial role in building society.
Rao noted that the event would showcase Telangana's culture, traditions, food, and tourist attractions to the world. Drawing parallels with South Korea's successful cultural exports like the 'Squid Game' and BTS, he expressed hope that this event would similarly boost Telangana's global fame and economic growth.
The Minister urged that beauty pageants should be seen as symbols of women's empowerment rather than criticised politically. The event will welcome contestants from 140 countries, drawing thousands of international and domestic visitors, further enhancing Telangana's tourism profile.
The total budget for the Miss World pageant is Rs 54 crore. Of them, Rs 27 crore is from the state government and the remaining amount is expected to come from sponsorships.
Julia Morley, CBE, Chairman and CEO of Miss World Limited, expressed her excitement about showcasing Telangana to the world. She emphasised the pageant's mission of unity and promoting tourism by involving contestants who share their experiences globally.
Reigning Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszkova, shared her admiration for India's cultural richness and her emotional connection to the country. She praised India's diversity as a strength and drew parallels between the unity seen in India and the Miss World community's shared vision.
Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy and Principal Secretary for Tourism and Culture Smita Sabharwal also addressed the gathering.
As per schedule released on the occasion, the Miss World contestants will arrive at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad near here on May 6 and 7, where they will receive a grand traditional welcome.
The opening ceremony will take place at Gachibowli Stadium on May 10, featuring traditional Telangana folk and tribal dances.
On May 12, a group 4 contestants representing Asia and Oceania will embark on a spiritual tour of Nagarjunasagar's Buddavanam. On May 13, contestants will explore Telangana's heritage through a walk at Charminar and Laad Bazaar, followed by a welcome dinner at Chowmahalla Palace with a live musical concert.
On May 14, Group 1 contestants representing the Americas and Caribbean will engage with students and communities at Kalaji Kala Kshethram in Warangal. On May 15, Group 2 contestants from Europe will visit Yadagirigutta temple and experience Pochampally's handloom tradition. On May 16, Group 3 contestants from Africa and the Middle East will participate in a medical tour of Apollo, AIG, and Yashoda hospitals in Hyderabad.
The Miss World sports finals will be held at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on May 17, followed by a cultural evening and Telangana cuisine food festival at Experium Eco Tourism Park. On May 19, contestants will visit the Telangana Police Integrated Command and Control Centre, Tank Bund, Ambedkar Statue, and the Secretariat. Region-specific fast-track selections will take place at T-Hub on May 20 and 21.
The Miss World talent final will be held at Shilpakala Vedika on May 22, while the head-to-head challenge final will occur at the Indian School of Business, Gachibowli, on May 23. The top model and fashion final will be held at Hitex on May 24, showcasing Telangana's fashion designers. A jewellery fashion show will be conducted at Hitex on May 25.
The Beauty with a Purpose event and a gala dinner are scheduled to take place at Taj Falaknuma on May 26. The Miss World live final will be held at Hitex on May 31, followed by the Coronation Gala from 10 pm to 1 am.

On June 2, the Miss World 2025 winner will meet the Telangana Governor and Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan.
