Mizoram eyes paperless offices, AI integration in push for digital future

Aizawl, May 16 (UNI) Emphasising the dual advantages of digital governance in enhancing public convenience and reducing costs, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Friday reaffirmed the state’s commitment to leveraging technology for governance and citizen services.
Speaking at the 17th Digital Transformation Conclave held in Aizawl, Lalduhoma underscored the significance of affordable digital access, noting that Mizoram has already rolled out a range of innovative platforms to strengthen this approach. The conclave was jointly hosted by the state’s Department of Information & Communication Technology (ICT), GovConnect, Google Cloud, and Ilouge Media.
Detailing the state’s ongoing digital journey, the Chief Minister cited several key projects such as the Mizoram State Public Grievances Redressal & Monitoring System (MSPGR&MS), the citizen-centric Kai Apps, and the RAMP – MSME Facilitation Cell and Portals, designed to support small and medium enterprises.
Other initiatives include the SDG Dashboard, which monitors progress towards sustainable development goals at the village level, the MPLAN project management dashboard, and e-RAM, an online tax and revenue system. He also mentioned the digitised Inner Line Permit (ILP) system and Aizawl Civil Hospital’s online outpatient registration service as examples of how technology is enhancing public service delivery.
Looking ahead, Lalduhoma hinted at a series of new digital initiatives in the pipeline, including the transition to paperless government offices. He also expressed optimism that Mizoram’s active engagement with India’s broader digital ecosystem would continue to yield mutual benefits and drive innovation in the state.
Meanwhile, Mizoram ICT Minister Vanlalthlana, while addressing the gathering, acknowledged the changing landscape shaped by artificial intelligence (AI). He observed that AI is no longer a luxury but an essential tool for not only enterprises but also families concerned about security and well-being in an increasingly digital world.
He made a strong case for equitable and inclusive internet access, secure data management via cloud services, and the need for the government and private sectors to work together to ensure technology benefits all segments of society.
Vanlalthlana further asserted that digital transformation is central to the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, adding that technological empowerment is vital for India’s progress and, by extension, for Mizoram’s development.
