Mock drill in Bihar to assess war preparedness among civilians amid Indo-Pak tension

Patna, May 07 (UNI) Amid increased Indo-Pak tension after successful "Operation Sindoor" by Indian Armed forces on Tuesday night targeting nine hideouts of terrorists in Pakistan, taking revenge of Pahalgam terror attack,
mock drill was conducted on Wednesday for ten minutes from 7 PM in seven cities of Bihar to assess war preparedness among people and also train them how to respond in real wartime scenario.
As the clock struck 6:58 PM on Wednesday, emergency siren was activated for two minutes, alerting people to respond to wartime
scenario.Exactly at 7 PM, power supply was stopped for ten minutes plunging seven cities into complete darkness.
Cities slipped under dark cover for ten minutes from 7 PM are Patna, Begusarai, Barauni, Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj and Araria. People also switched off lights in their homes having inverters and other short duration power supply facilities.
Lights were also switched off in all government buildings, market complex, temples and other religious places. Official residence of Bihar Chief Minister and Raj Bhawan were also placed in complete darkness switching off lights there. Similarly, buildings of Bihar Legislative Assembly and Bihar Legislative Council were covered under darkness after switching off lights there.
Heavy deployment of security forces were made at all important destinations including airports, oil depots, pipelines, power generation units and other industrial units.
Fire fighting services in all seven cities were on high alert simulating wartime scenario. Vehicles plying on roads were also stopped with headlights off for ten minutes during the darkness.
All busy localities and market areas including Dakbungalow crossing in Patna and other six cities of Bihar were under cover of complete darkness for ten minutes. As the clock struck 7:10 PM, lights were switched on and power supply was restored, resuming normal activities. People were seen raising slogans " Jai Hind Sena " appreciating successful operation " Sindoor " conducted by Indian Armed forces targeting nine terrorist hideouts in
Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir(PoK). Operation "Sindoor" was conducted by Indian Armed forces to take revenge of terror attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22 which had claimed lives of 26 people there.
State headquarters had earlier asked all SPs concerned to make fool proof security arrangements at vital installations, religious places, industries and all other sensitive locations. The security was further beefed up at Mahabodhi Temple in Gaya, Hanuman temple near Patna junction, Barauni pipeline, Patna Airport, Gaya airport, Darbhanga airport, Barauni Refinery, NTPC Barh, Patna Sahib Takht Harmandir Gurudwara, Indian oil terminal at Sipara and other such places.
Apart from stepping up security at crowded areas, the security personnel were also keeping a close watch on the hotels and lodges across the state. Patrolling was intensified seemanchal areas and also districts Indo-Nepal border in Bihar.
