MoU signed for education and rehabilitation of Divyang students

Lucknow, Apr 17 (UNI) In a step towards inclusive development and empowerment of Divyangjans, the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dr Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU), Lucknow, and Saksham Trust, New Delhi.
The collaboration aims to enhance education, technology, training, and rehabilitation opportunities for differently-abled students. The initiative aligns with the Yogi government's vision of creating an 'Equal Opportunity, Self-Reliant UP' by integrating Divyangjans into the mainstream.
This partnership aims to expand accessible, inclusive, and quality higher education for Divyangjans, promote self-reliance by integrating assistive technologies into the education system, develop training and rehabilitation programs for students and teachers, contribute to policy making through joint research and innovation.
The MoU will focus on educational inclusion and capacity building, develop study materials in Braille and digital formats, organise workshops on inclusive education for teachers and staff, conduct leadership training, rights awareness and advocacy campaigns, assistive technology and innovation, provide screen readers, magnifiers and special software, xet up technology labs and resource centres and conducting technical assistance and training.
Both institutions have appointed coordinators for the implementation of the projects, including Ashish Kumar Gupta from DSMNRU and Rami Seth from Saksham Trust. The agreement has been initially signed for three years, with the possibility of extension as needed. A joint review meeting will be held every year to assess progress.
