ONGC denies Mumbai High tender cancellation

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) on Friday categorically denied media reports suggesting the cancellation of its Mumbai High tender and uncertainty over its partnership with British energy major bp.
Referring to a news item published by News IP on May 8, titled "ONGC Cancels Mumbai High Tender, Uncertainty Looms over bp Partnership", the state-run energy major termed the report as speculative and misleading.
"The speculative nature of the above report creates room for misinterpretation regarding the continuity of ONGC’s strategic partnership with bp," ONGC said in an official statement.
Clarifying its position, the company asserted that its contract with bp, which serves as the Technical Services Provider (TSP) for the Mumbai High offshore oil field, remains "effective and operating."
The clarification comes amidst industry chatter following the News IP article, which had claimed a "major development" in the sector. ONGC's response seeks to allay concerns over the stability of its collaboration with bp in one of India's most mature and strategically important oilfields.
