Manipur government to strengthen e governance

Imphal, May 6 (UNI) Kakching Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohit Anand on Tuesday asked officials to give strong emphasis on the usage of e-Office and also asked the DIT officials to conduct training programme regarding e-Offfice for the District Level Officers (DLOs).
He said e-Office will enhance efficiency, transparency and accountability. This will also streamline workflow, reduce paper usage and improve data security and integrity. They were also urged to look into the SWAN connections and status of those already connected in the district especially in areas like Pallel, Sugnu and Serou.
The DC was attending a District Level meeting of the District e-Governance Society (DeGS), Kakching

Implementation/status of State Wide Area Network (SWAN), e-District, and BharatNet Project were discussed.
BSNL has made 586 connections so far in the district under the BharatNet Project.

Official said the State Wide Area Network (SWAN) is a core infrastructure project under the National e-Governance Plan, designed to create a reliable and secure network connecting state headquarters with district and block-level offices.

BharatNet Project, launched by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in 2011, is India's flagship initiative aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to all Gram Panchayats and villages across the country.
