Manipur Governor reviews situation in border district

Imphal, May 7 (UNI) Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on Wednesday visited border district Chandel and reviewed law and order and administrative developments.
The district shares a border with Myanmar.
The Governor also inaugurated the District Library, Chandel and Information Technology Centre at the district headquarters.
Later, Bhalla chaired a review meeting at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office where he comprehensibly reviewed various developmental initiatives including Centrally Sponsored Schemes taken up in the district.
Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, L. Nandakumar Singh along with other District Level Officers (DLO) gave a detailed presentation on various developmental programmes which are being taken up for the welfare of the people in the district.
SP Chandel Babitarani Swain also highlighted the various security measures which are putting in place to maintain law and order and other security related issues in the district. Governor directed the officials to work to ensure maximum benefits be delivered to the people.
Bhalla also interacted with Civil Society Organisations and heard their grievances.
Upon arrival at the district headquarters, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by the Deputy Commissioner, SP and DLOs. UNI NS SSP

Ovarian cancer affects nearly 7 in every lakh Indian women, warn expert

Kolkata, May 8 (UNI) Ranking as the third most frequent cancer affecting women in India, ovarian maligancy is found in approximately 6.8 cases per 100,000 females in the country, a renowned expert said here on Thursday quoting Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data
On the occasion of World Ovarian Cancer Day, acclaimed gynaecological oncologist Asima Mukhopadhyay stressed the critical need for early detection in treating ovarian cancer- an insidious malignancy that continues to elude timely diagnosis in the vast majority of cases.
