Manipur Governor appealed to control unrest

Imphal, Feb 18 (UNI) The People's Alliance for Peace and Progress, Manipur (PAPPM), a voluntary social organisation dedicated to fostering peace and progress in Manipur, has urged Manipur Governor AK Bhalla to restore peace and harmony among all communities.
M. Bobby, President of the organization said in a memorandum to the Governor on Tuesday that the prevailing unrest is deeply rooted in political agenda that do not align with the collective aspirations of the indigenous people.
He reminded that there has been violence triggered by some organizations whenever there is a demand to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system. He reminded me of the killing of Meitei and the destruction of all properties owned by Meitei at Moreh in 2015. Illegal immigration, rampant poppy cultivation, drug smuggling, and the destruction of reserved and protected forests must be urgently addressed, he demanded.
