BJD extends support to Odisha Rajya Vidyut Upabhogta Mahasangha stir on Mar 21

Bhubaneswar, Mar 20 (UNI) The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has extended its full support to the Odisha Rajya Vidyut Upabhogta Mahasangha’s upcoming demonstration in front of the Odisha Assembly on March 21.
The demonstration is being organized to protest the recent hikes in electricity tariff and the installation of smart metres across Odisha, both of which have caused significant distress among the state's electricity consumers.
BJD spokespersons Lenin Mohanty and Bhrugu Bauxipatra told newsmen that the BJP Odisha government had made significant promises during its election campaign, including of providing 300 units of free electricity to every household and ensuring that electricity tariffs would not be increased.
