Arunachal Agri Minister launches mega oil palm plantation drive in Lower Dibang Valley

Itanagar, May 11 (UNI) In a major push toward agricultural development in the region, Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Gabriel D Wangsu launched a mega oil palm plantation drive at Aara-Camp, Abali in Lower Dibang Valley district on Sunday.
The initiative, themed 'Sowing for a better future', was organised by 3F Oil Palm company in collaboration with the District Agriculture Office.
In his address, Minister Wangsu emphasised that oil palm cultivation is “not just a state mission but our national mission”. He commended local farmers for successfully sustaining their livelihoods through oil palm cultivation and encouraged them to share their success stories with other regions across the state.
Local MLA Puinnyo Apu referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a self-reliant nation, urging farmers to contribute to this national goal through their dedicated efforts.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from local farmers and several dignitaries, including Agriculture Director TD Neckom, ADC and SP Roing, and officials from 3F Oil Palm. Departmental heads present at the function highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable crop cultivation and welcomed the collaborative efforts between industry and government.
Officials emphasised that such initiatives would pave the way for long-term economic growth, increased farmer participation, and comprehensive regional development across the oil palm ecosystem.
It is worth-mentioning that Arunachal Pradesh has achieved the distinction of being the first state in India to establish two factories under the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) Programme.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the Minister paid a visit to several agricultural facilities including Bolung Government Fish Farm, the state-of-the-art Dairy Farm at Kangkong, and the Government Seed Production Farm at Bolung to assess their infrastructure and operational status.
