Meghalaya Dy Speaker files Rs.100 crore defamation suit against two persons

Shillong, Mar 12 (UNI) Meghalaya Deputy Speaker Timothy Dalbot Shira on Wednesday filed a defamation lawsuit in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Shillong, seeking a compensation of Rs. 100 crore in damages.
The lawsuit is directed against Balsrang Marak of Thapa Darenchi village in Meghalaya’s North Garo Hills district and Mikkanchi R. Sangma of Darangiri village in Assam’s Goalpara district, accusing the veteran legislator of being totally against making Tura, the district headquarters of West Garo Hills, as winter capital of Meghalaya.
“I have filed a defamation and criminal cases against two individuals as they have made viral on YouTube regarding my speech in the Assembly with regards to making Tura, the winter capital,” Shira told reporters.
