Imphal, Apr 27 (UNI) Ten militants belonging to different groups were apprehended by security forces and Manipur police during separate operations during the last 24 hours.
Police said on Sunday that five cadres of a militant outfit were nabbed in Wangkhei Thangapat Mapan, Imphal East near Young Pioneer Club under Porompat PS, Imphal East District.
Two live rounds, one .303 ammunition and one AK Rifle ammunition, three wireless sets were recovered from them.
Police said they were allegedly involved in extortion activities and intimidation of locals by forcefully meddling in private affairs of individuals in lieu of monetary benefits. One of them was involved in extortion and intimidation by posing as a middleman.
In another operation, security forces arrested a militant from Nongren Mamang Leikai under Lamlai-PS, Imphal East District.
In yet another operation, security forces nabbed an active member of an outfit from Sawombung Junction near FCI Godown under Lamlai-PS, Imphal East District.
Manipur Police arrested three active members of a group from Liwa Road under Singjamei-PS, Imphal West District.
In an operation two each of 9 mm Pistol, .303 Rifle, one each of .22 Rifle (country made), Lathode Gun and others were recovered from Leijangphai village under Thanlon-PS, Pherzawl District.
In another operation, at Moltincham village under Sugnu-PS, Kakching District, one each of SLR, Bolt Action Rifle, four Pumpi, two Grenade and other materials were recovered.
