Two impersonators posing as cops arrested in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 3 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday arrested two alleged impersonators, who were posing as cops in Awantipora sub district.



Police said the two identified as Bashir Ahmad Sheikh of Saimooh and Mohammad Shafi Dar of Dadsora, were arrested for posing as law enforcement officers to extort money from the public.

The arrests were made following a complaint by Mohammad Altaf Ganai of Nageenpora Tral.



Police said the suspects were allegedly demanding money from innocent citizens by falsely claiming police authority.

A case was registered in Police station Tral under relevant laws, and both accused were arrested.



Police have urged citizens to stay vigilant, verify identities of anyone claiming to be an officer, and report suspicious behavior to the nearest police station or helpline.
