Lucknow, May 5 (UNI) The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Monday disposed of a petition regarding Congress leader and leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's citizenship directing the central government to continue it's inquiry into the matter.
Disposing of the plea, the court also gave liberty to the petitioner to approach an appropriate forum for raising his grievances. "The division bench of justices AR Masoodi and Rajeev Singh passed the order on a petition filed by S Vignesh Shishir of Karnataka, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Rahul's citizenship," Deputy Solicitor SB Pandey said while appearing on behalf of the Central government.
On November 25, 2024, the court asked the Centre to furnish details about the action taken on a representation before the Union Home Ministry, which claimed that Rahul Gandhi held United Kingdom's (UK) citizenship.
