Omar visits Mata Kheer Bhawani temple in Ganderbal

Srinagar, May 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday visited the Mata Kheer Bhawani temple in Ganderbal district to review the preparations for the upcoming Kheer Bhawani Mela, scheduled to be held on June 3.

The upcoming Kheer Bhawani Mela, will be the first major religious gathering in Jammu and Kashmir after the last month terror attack in Pahalgam that led to killing of 25 tourists and a local. Days later India launched “Operation Sindoor” targeting 9 major terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

The annual Kheer Bhawani Mela, celebrated at the historic shrine in Tulmulla, Ganderbal, holds deep spiritual significance for Kashmiri Pandits. Thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir, especially members of the Pandit community, visit the temple each year to mark the occasion of Jyeshtha Ashtami.

Over the years, the Kheer Bhawani Mela has evolved into a powerful symbol of Kashmir’s communal harmony and brotherhood.

“Kheer Bhawani Mela will be our immediate focus, followed by the Amarnath Yatra,” the Chief Minister said after inspecting the arrangements.

In a post on X, Omar reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing a smooth, safe, and welcoming environment for all devotees.
