Himachal: Flash flood disrupts SKTT route near Tindi

Lahaul-Spiti, May 20 (UNI) A flash flood near the 74-kilometre location of Tindi area (under Sub-Division Udaipur) has led to the temporary closure of the vital SKTT route, which connects Sansari–Kilad–Tindi–Thirot tribal region, and the closure due to natural calamity underscores continued challenges faced by the district during extreme weather events.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and updates will be issued as soon as the road is deemed safe for travel.
The Lahaul-Spiti district police issued a flash flood advisory late on Monday, cautioning travellers and urging strict compliance with safety protocols.
According to the local police, the flash flood occurred near the identified location, rendering the SKTT route impassable.
Authorities have confirmed that the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has commenced restoration work to clear and repair the damaged stretch.
In light of the situation, the police have requested travellers to avoid using this route until further notice. The advisory specifically asks commuters to adhere to directions issued by the district police and follow all safety guidelines.
The administration has assured that appropriate steps are being taken to restore connectivity as swiftly as possible.
