Punjab Cong leaders meet Manish Tewari, discuss challenges being faced by state

Chandigarh, May 6 (UNI) Senior Punjab Congress leaders from various districts met former Union minister and Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari on Tuesday and discussed with him the challenges being faced by the state, especially in the agrarian-industrial environment. They also shared the road map of the future in order to meet these challenges.

The Congress leaders also apprised Tewari about the prevailing political situation in Punjab as well

as the intra-party dynamics.

Most of these leaders had worked with Tewari when he was the national president of the NSUI and

the Indian Youth Congress in the late 80s and 90s.

The leaders resolved that in the days to come, there would be meetings in various districts of Punjab

in order to deliberate upon the challenges which the state is facing.



Among others Pawan Dewan, ex-chairman Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, Vijay Sharma Tinku , Satvir Singh ex-chairman Planning Board, Gursharan Kaur Randhawa, president Punjab Mahila Congress and other senior leaders were present.

Kashmiri journalist detained for 'instigating secessionist sentiment' on social media

Srinagar, May 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing on Tuesday detained a Kashmiri journalist, accusing him of “posting extremist content on social media.”

Police said Hilal Mir, a resident of Bemina Srinagar was detained as he "used to disseminate extremist or distorted content with an intention to disturb peace and promote disaffection and secessionist ideology and present India in a bad shape.”

Police statement didn’t mention Mir as a journalist.
Mir, an independent reporter, has previously worked with media organsations including Hindustan Times and Srinagar based newspapers. He also freelanced for Anadolu Agency, TRT and Huffpost.
