UP launches CM Suposhan Abhiyan across all aspirational districts

Lucknow, May 10 (UNI) After the success of the Sambhav Abhiyan in tackling child malnutrition, the Uttar Pradesh government has now launched the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan across all eight aspirational districts of the state, official sources said here on Friday.

Sources said that with a clear objective to eradicate malnutrition and ensure nutritional security for children, this ambitious initiative reinforces the state government's commitment to the health and well-being of its youngest citizens.

Sources said that a comprehensive action plan for the pilot phase has already been prepared. "The campaign targets children between the ages of 3 and 6, aiming to provide them with daily nutritious snacks delivering 400 calories and 15–20 grams of protein. These meals will be provided under the Take-Home Ration model, ensuring both consistency and accessibility," they said.

Sources said that as part of the nutrition package, children will receive flavored milk, bananas and other seasonal fruits and a specially designed Millet Chikki Nutribar.

"This nutribar, piloted successfully in Varanasi, has demonstrated a measurable positive impact, helping to reduce anemia, stunting and underweight cases among Anganwadi beneficiaries. It has also been credited with boosting both attendance and engagement at Anganwadi centres, due to its nutritional value and child-friendly taste," they said.

Sources said that the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan is expected to benefit a total of 11,13,783 children, with a proposed budget of Rs 254.83 crore, amounting to Rs 44 per child per day.

"The Yogi government has underlined the importance of swift implementation and close monitoring of the campaign to ensure maximum impact. Regular assessments by health experts will be carried out to measure outcomes and make necessary adjustments in real time," they said.

Sources said that with this initiative, the state is taking a decisive step towards creating a healthier, stronger and more resilient generation. "CM Yogi has reiterated that child nutrition is not just a welfare measure, but a foundational investment in UP's future," they said.
