Amid Waqf Bill debate, Mirwaiz says Muslims feel let down

Srinagar, Apr 2 (UNI) Amid a raging debate over the Waqf Amendment Bill, Kashmiri separatist leader and Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday said that crores of Muslims in India are feeling greatly let down.

Mirwaiz, who also heads the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), a conglomerate of major religious bodies of Jammu & Kashmir, had met the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in January highlighting MMU's grave concerns over the proposed amendments. The MMU head told the JPC during their meeting to “engage in meaningful talks with the Muslim community” to address their apprehension and concerns.
