Srinagar, Mar 27 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir witnessed fairly widespread rainfall in the past 24 hours and is expected to see more rain and thunderstorms till Friday.
According to the Meteorological Department, fairly widespread light rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue across Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours.
The forecast further indicates that the weather is likely to improve over the subsequent two days, with isolated light rain in some areas before turning mainly dry.
According to MeT data, Kupwara recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, receiving 17.5 mm of rain. It was followed by the ski resort of Gulmarg, which registered 15.8 mm of rainfall.
Qazigund in south Kashmir received 7.6 mm, while Srinagar and Pahalgam recorded 4.1 mm and 2.5 mm of rain, respectively.
In the past 24 hours, night temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir saw slight variations, rising or falling by up to 2°C in many areas.
In Jammu division, Bhaderwah 9.1°C and Banihal 10.4°C recorded the lowest temperatures. In Kashmir, night temperatures increased by 1-2°C in several places, with Gulmarg 0.6°C and Kupwara 5.7°C being the coldest.
Meanwhile, MeT has issued a weather advisory urging travelers, tourists, and transporters to plan their journeys accordingly and follow administrative and traffic advisories.
The department has also advised farmers to resume their agricultural activities from tomorrow as weather conditions are expected to improve.
