Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Several workers sustained injuries when a portion of the slab of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapsed on Saturday.
The incident occurred at the 14th kilometer of the tunnel, where a three-meter section gave way, injuring workers at the site. The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, work at the left tunnel from Nalgonda had resumed four days ago. Reports indicate that the accident took place while construction activities were underway this morning.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed shock over the accident at the SLBC tunnel. Upon receiving information about the collapse, which injured multiple workers, the Chief Minister promptly alerted officials and directed immediate relief measures.
Following his orders, the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, Fire Department, and officials from the Hydra and Irrigation Departments rushed to the scene.
Additionally, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Irrigation Advisor Adityanath Das, and other irrigation officials were dispatched to the accident site via a special helicopter, an official statement said.
