Hyderabad, Apr 21 (UNI) Union Minister and BJP Telangana State President G Kishan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Congress and BRS parties during a media conference held at the BJP state headquarters on Monday.
On the final day of campaigning for the Hyderabad local authorities constituency MLC elections, Reddy accused both parties of betraying democratic principles by aligning with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) and attempting to undermine the electoral process.
Reddy alleged that both the ruling Congress party and the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi), the main opposition in the state assembly, have opted out of the Legislative Council elections (MLC) with the sole aim of aiding AIMIM. “They are trying to hand over Hyderabad to the Majlis party, and eventually, they will not hesitate to hand over Telangana too,” he warned.
The BJP leader also leveled serious accusations against the BRS, claiming that the party is threatening its own corporators and preventing them from casting their votes. “This is an insult to the democratic rights of the people who elected them,” he said, adding that both Congress and BRS have consistently collaborated with AIMIM to divide anti-Majlis votes.
Reddy went on to question the secular credentials of Congress and BRS, asserting that AIMIM carries the legacy of the Razakars and religious fanaticism. He cited historical instances and alleged atrocities to argue that the Majlis party is unfit to represent the secular fabric of the state. “Isn't it true that 400 Dalits were massacred in Teegalukunda under Majlis influence? And yet Congress and BRS are bowing to this party for political gain,” he said.
“Even though Rahul Gandhi leads the Congress and KCR leads BRS, it is Asaduddin Owaisi who is the real super boss of both parties in Telangana,” Reddy stated. He questioned the rationale behind BRS’s decision not to contest the MLC elections in Hyderabad despite having significant electoral presence.
He also criticised AIMIM for having opposed the formation of Telangana and expressed dismay at BRS’s alliance with such a party. “It’s shameful that the BRS is supporting the very party that stood against the Telangana movement,” Reddy said.
Reddy called on the people of Hyderabad and Telangana to be vigilant against what he described as a “Congress-BRS-MIM nexus” and urged voters to recognise the BJP as the only party committed to democratic values and state development.
He concluded with confidence in BJP's victory, noting that BJP candidate Gautam Rao has already reached out to voters across party lines and received widespread support.
