Hyderabad, Mar 21 (UNI) Telangana's Aerospace and Defence sector has overtaken the Pharma sector in merchandise exports, marking a significant milestone in the state's industrial growth, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) announced on Twitter (X).
Expressing his delight, KTR credited this achievement to the remarkable progress made during the #TelanganaDecade (2014-2023). He emphasised that the Aerospace and Defence Policy 2016 played a crucial role in fostering investment, research, and indigenous manufacturing, creating a strong foundation for the sector’s growth.
Telangana’s aerospace sector has witnessed exceptional expansion under the BRS government. The state has won the Best State Award for Promotion of the Aviation Ecosystem four times (2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024).
In 2021, Hyderabad was ranked No. 1 among the Top 10 Aerospace Cities in Cost-Effectiveness. The city has also nurtured a thriving startup ecosystem, with notable companies such as Skyroot Aerospace, Dhruva Space, Azad Engineering, and Skanda Aerospace making significant contributions to the industry.
The state has invested heavily in workforce development, with over 30,000 individuals trained in specialised aerospace skills and more than 15,000 securing employment in the sector. Additionally, Telangana boasts four aerospace parks, two hardware parks, and 50 other engineering parks, strengthening its aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystem.
KTR lauded the leadership of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for implementing progressive policies and leveraging Telangana’s strategic location to establish the state as a national leader in Aerospace and Defence.
