Suspect arrested in Bengaluru road rage case

Bengaluru, Apr 21 (UNI) Vikas Kumar, the man involved in the alleged assault of Indian Air Force (IAF) officers Wing Commander Vikramanas Shiladitya Bose and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Das, during a road rage incident in Bengaluru, has been arrested, the city police confirmed here on Monday.
D Devaraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for East Bengaluru, addressed the incident, stating, "Let me make it very clear and go on record – this incident is not related to any linguistic or regional issue. Based on the facts and evidence collected since this morning, it is a straightforward case of road rage, the kind of which we see three to four times daily in a city like Bengaluru. It was an avoidable situation for both parties."
Devaraj further revealed that six to seven local youths intervened to separate the two parties involved in the altercation, as seen in available video footage.
According to the police, Squadron Leader Madhumita Das was driving when an oncoming vehicle, reportedly being driven at high speed, raised concerns over reckless driving.
Upon questioning the driver, the situation escalated into a verbal exchange. The driver, later identified as Vikas Kumar, approached Wing Commander Bose, questioning why his wife had objected to his driving. The confrontation soon turned physical.
Vikas Kumar is associated with a small business, DCP Vikas Kumar said, conforming that an initial investigation has been completed, with further details expected once the dashcam footage from the involved vehicle is reviewed. UNI BDN SSP
