People should come forward to change approach towards senior citizens: Kerala HC Judge

Kannur, May 2 (UNI) Kerala HIgh Court judge A. Mohammed Mustaq on Friday urged the general public to come forward and bring about a radical change in the approach towards the elderly in society.
Mustaq was speaking after inaugurating the Age Welfare Awareness Programme here, organised by the Kannur- District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) in collaboration with the Sreemangalam Age Welfare Centre. He said what is being lost by imitating western countries is the Indian tradition and culture, he said, adding the news in the media one heard every day was making people worried,
He said the legal system has to intervene to deal with atrocities against the elderly, which is a challenge to the country's social consciousness.
