Chennai, Mar 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin
on Saturday said the proposed delimitation exercise based on current population
was BJP's ploy to implement it ulterior motives and it should not be acceptable.
In his address at the first Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting in which Chief
Ministers of three states, a Deputy Chief Minister and leaders of more than
20 political parties took part, Mr Stalin said the BJP has always been a party
that deprives states and state rights.
"They want to implement their ulterior motives in the delimitation plan. No state
should allow this. Realising this threat, Tamil Nadu is working with unprecedented
unity", he said.
Naming this committee that was meeting today a 'Joint Action Committee for Fair
Delimitation’, the Chief Minister said "We are not against delimitation; the name
itself will say that we are in favour of fair delimitation!"
"This struggle will not end with us meeting – deliberating – and passing a resolution
for one day. It is very necessary to take continuous action to establish rights", he said.
Stating that this JAC is very necessary to create awareness among the people--both
to urge the Union Government and to explain this to the people, Mr Stalin invited
suggestions from the leaders on how to conduct our political protest legally.
He also said he has proposed to set up a committee of experts to define the political
and legal measures. "I request everyone to share their views on the overall proposal.
We can only win if everyone fights together with a sense of unity."
"We will fight with the determination that our representation should not
decrease under any circumstances; we should not let it decrease. We will fight
together until we achieve fair delimitation' he added.
