Telangana: MIM Prez urges Maharashtra govt to lift ban on issuing birth certificates

Hyderabad, Mar 1 (UNI) AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to lift the ban on issuing birth certificates or exempt birth certificate issuance for primary school admissions.
The Maharashtra government has prohibited issuing birth and death certificates indefinitely since January 21, causing significant hardship to thousands of children born during or post-COVID, Owaisi said on social media platform ‘X.
“Many kids from poor families, especially in Malegaon, weren't registered due to lack of legal knowledge, illiteracy, or financial constraints. Consequently, they can't secure school admissions”, he said.
