BJP strongly condemns sale of 400 acres of land in HCU campus

Hyderabad, Mar 18 (UNI) Telangana BJP strongly condemned the sale of 400 acres of land within
the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) campus and the arrest of BJYM leaders and activists who staged a protest at the Assembly against the Congress government's actions.
Speaking to the media at the state party office in Nampally on Tuesday, State Party General Secretary Kasam Venkateswarlu criticised the Revanth Reddy government for attempting to sell university land instead of exploring alternative solutions to address the state's financial crisis.

He accused the Congress government of betraying the people and jeopardizing the future of students by planning to sell HCU lands worth Rs 10 thousand crores.
Venkateswarlu pointed out that the 2300 acres allocated to the university during united Andhra Pradesh should be preserved for future generations and educational development.
He highlighted that HCU, ranked fourth in the country, is often called the "Lungs of Hyderabad" due
to its rich natural environment, which includes Mushroom Rock, Peacock Lake, and habitats for hundreds of bird species.
Selling such environmentally significant land for temporary gains is a destructive act, he added, calling it shameful and irresponsible.
Venkateswarlu criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, calling him an "uneducated politician," and warned that Telangana is suffering under his leadership.
He strongly opposed the sale of university lands, arguing that the government must prioritize safeguarding students' futures.
The BJP leader also condemned the restrictions imposed on Osmania University, calling it an undemocratic move.
He warned the Congress government not to suppress students, drawing comparisons to previous repressive measures under the KCR government during the Indira Park demolition.
Venkateswarlu further accused the Congress of deceiving the public through its "7th guarantee," claiming that Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjuna Kharge, and Siddaramaiah had misled people in the name of guarantees.
He accused Revanth Reddy's government of suppressing democracy by misusing police powers.
The BJP demanded that the sale of HCU lands be cancelled immediately, the restrictions imposed on Osmania University be lifted, and all illegal cases against journalists be withdrawn. The party urged the government to stop actions that curtail media freedom.
