Telangana: Rescue operations underway to save workers trapped in SLBC tunnel collapse

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (UNI) A major accident occurred at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel, prompting extensive rescue operations to save workers trapped inside.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have reached the tunnel boring machine (TBM) to assist in the rescue mission.
The accident occurred at 0800 hours on Saturday at the 14th kilometer of the SLBC tunnel construction site in Domalapenta, Amrabad Mandal, Nagarkurnool district. The collapse occurred when the tunnel roof caved in during construction work, leading to a blockage caused by mud, concrete, and water accumulation. Approximately 1,000 cubic meters of rocks and soil obstructed the passage, complicating rescue efforts.
