Effective surveillance through CCTV systems being carried out at all railway stations in Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 26 (UNI) In the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, security at public places in Maharashtra is being strengthened. Effective surveillance is being carried out through CCTV systems in railway stations and surroundings for the safety of Mumbaikar passengers, the Mumbai Commissionerate said on Saturday.
There are 139 railway stations under the Mumbai Railway Police Commissionerate.
Around 7,500 to 8,000 local train runs are made during the day, and 75 to 80 lakh passengers travel through these every day.
Very effective surveillance is being maintained at all these railway stations under the Commissionerate through CCTV systems from the point of view of the safety of the passengers.
Within all police stations, personal contact is maintained with police friends, peace committees, passengers as well as passenger organisations as well as canteens, railways, cleaning workers, porters, boot polishers.
Therefore, along with the necessary information from the point of view of security, any suspicious person, thing, or object is immediately informed. Every senior police inspector is required to be present at the field location for at least two hours.
It is mandatory for every officer to patrol for at least four hours within the limits of the police station. Similarly, a campaign is underway to check passengers suddenly every day.
A specific procedure has been prescribed in it and this check is done accordingly. Similarly, a sudden check i.e. ‘massive flash checking’ is also done in local trains. In it, there is an officer and three to four employees with him. In the running local, they check passengers, racks and luggage with passengers suddenly.
