Trump calls for 30-day unconditional ceasefire between Russia-Ukraine

Washington/Moscow, May 9 (UNI) US President Donald Trump has said that Washington is still engaged in discussions with Moscow and Kiev, and called for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine, warning that new sanctions would be imposed if the ceasefire is not upheld.
"Talks with Russia/Ukraine continue. The U.S. calls for, ideally, a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. Hopefully, an acceptable ceasefire will be observed, and both Countries will be held accountable for respecting the sanctity of these direct negotiations. If the ceasefire is not respected, the US and its partners will impose further sanctions," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
In his post, Trump emphasised his commitment to achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine in collaboration with European partners, expressing hope for a lasting resolution of the conflict.

Dhaka, May 11 (UNI) The Awami League has rejected as "illegal and unconstitutional" the ban on its activities by the Interim Government of Bangladesh, and said it proves that the “fascist” Yunus regime is seeking to turn the country “into a fertile ground for anti-liberation forces and extremist groups.”
In a statement, the party said the very party under whose leadership Bangladesh achieved independence and emerged as a sovereign state has now had its activities banned by an unelected, anti-democratic, fascist government devoid of public mandate.

Dhaka, May 11 (UNI) The Advisory Council of the Bangladesh Interim Government has decided to ban all activities of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party, under the country’s Anti-Terrorism Act until the trial of the ousted party and its leaders is completed at the International Crimes Tribunal.
The decision was made at a special meeting of the council following three days of demonstrations by the government's political allies such as the BNP, BJI, and the NCP and Islamic parties, demanding a ban on the Awami League and its trial for alleged atrocities during the July-uprising last year, reported the Dhaka Tribune.
