No single leader for life: Dinesh Gundu Rao

Bengaluru, Mar 31 (UNI) Amid Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s visit to Delhi, senior Congress leader and state minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Monday reaffirmed that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President’s post is not a lifetime position and that leadership changes occur naturally within the party.
"The high command will decide whether to retain the current President or appoint a new one," he told reporters here.
His remarks assume significance in the backdrop of Siddaramaiah’s visit to the national capital, reportedly to discuss key political and administrative matters, including the state’s leadership dynamics, with the Congress high command.
"Leadership transitions are a natural process. DK Shivakumar has done an admirable job in strengthening the party’s organisational structure. However, there is absolute clarity within the party regarding the leadership change," Rao said.
Dismissing speculations about any internal discord over the leadership change, he stated that the party high command takes such decisions after due deliberation and does not act hastily.
Rao further asserted that differing opinions within the party were natural, but the final decision on the matter would rest with the party's central leadership. "The high command has the final say," he added.
The remarks come amid speculation over a possible reshuffle in the KPCC leadership, even as Shivakumar continues to play a key role in the state's political landscape.
